KUWAIT, May 26 (KUNA) -- 1976 -- Late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues law 39/1976 regulating ownership and registration of apartments, floors and plots of land.
1976 -- The Agricultural Food Products Company was established with a capital of KD 10 million.
1980 -- Late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues decree-law 34/1980, according to which the state acquired the private Transport Company. Shareholders were compensated with KD 2.5 per stock.
1995 -- Late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah donates GBP 500,000 for a special fund for Iraqi refugees, set up by British legislator Baroness Emma Nicholson. The fund was disbursed to build a hospital for Iraqi refugees in Iran and working out an educational program for their children.
1996 -- Chairman of the Municipal Council Abdurrahman Al-Houti inaugurates the fish and vegetables market at Al-Mubarkiyah in Kuwait City. The project, launched with an old traditional architectural atmosphere, was one of the landmark national privatization ventures. It was placed under management of Kuwait Commercial Markets Complex Company (KCMCC).
2003 -- The former minister of oil, Dr. Adel Al-Sabeeh, was awarded a GCC patent for a system for cooling water for houses. He was granted the award at a ceremony organized by the GCC Patent Office at its Riyadh headquarters.
2004 -- Authorities inaugurated a venture for treating construction waste. The project, executed a 10,000-sq-m plot of land, was designed to recycle construction material such as concrete and steel.
2006 -- Actor and director Abdulaziz Al-Mansour passes away at the age of 60. He was an eminent Kuwaiti artist, worked at the television and excelled in drama direction. He earned the Kuwait State Appreciation and Encouragement Award in 2005.
2008 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah honored Spanish King Juan Carlos I with Medal of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, in appreciation for his efforts in strengthening bilateral relations, and the Spanish King honored His Highness Sheikh Sabah with the Civil Merit Medal.
2010 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues decrees establishing Kuwaiti embassies in Benin, Myanmar, the Republic of Laos, and the Republic of Gabon.
2011 -- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia sign an agreement and a memo of understanding for cooperation in aerial transport services.
2013 -- Kuwait Oil Co (KOC) receives the Occupational Health and Safety Award from Britain's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the Safety Award from the British Safety Council. (end) hb
