KUWAIT, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- 1961 -- The Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues law 3/1961 over publications laws.
1965 -- The National Assembly annuls, with a consensus, the oil royalty expensing agreement proposed by a large oil company.
1983 -- The State of Kuwait agrees on the international agreement for weighing freight on ships.
1985 -- An agreement is signed making Kuwait the headquarters of the Arab Center for Health Publications and Documents.
1987 -- The fifth Islamic Summit is held in Kuwait with the participation of 44 leaders, kings and heads of state of the Islamic world. At the inauguration of the four-day summit, the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah welcomes the participating delegates and thanks them for electing him Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) fifth summit.
1995 -- Four important documents concerning Iraq's recognition of the sovereignty of Kuwait are placed in the official UN archives.
1999 -- The tugboat "Al-Qatra," belonging to Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), sinks off the coast of Ahmadi Port while carrying out its duties. No human causalities result from the accident, but material loss worth over two million Kuwaiti dinars is suffered. (end) hb
