1956 -- Summer clubs were opened in Kuwait to help schoolchildren spend their leisure time in useful activities.
1961 -- Iraqi ruler Abdulkarim Qassem, during a news conference at headquarters of the Iraqi defense ministry, unveiled his colonial intentions and policy of blackmail against the State of Kuwait, alleging that Kuwait was part of Iraq. The government of the State of Kuwait issued a statement affirming its sovereignty and determination to defend its territory, noting all peace-loving nations would back its endeavor to preserve the independence of the homeland.
1973 -- The Amir His Highness Sheikh Sabah Alآ­Salem Alآ­Sabah issued a law on preserving oil resources and organizing relations between the government and companies working in the oil sector.
1980 -- An Amiri decree was issued establishing a sixآ­million Kuwaiti dinar pharmaceutical industries company.
1981 -- Five explosions rocked interior security buildings, a number of touristic sites, and a power station. There were no injuries.
1990 آ­آ­ Kuwaiti businessman, Khaled Alآ­Yousef Alآ­Mutawa, passed away at the age of 78, he was head of the orphans directory, member of the municipal council, and one of the Gulf Bank founders.
1992 -- An explosive device went off near the houses of Sheikh Mubarak Sabah Alآ­Nasser and a Kuwaiti medical college professor, Dr. Hilal Alآ­Sayer, killing an Iranian gardener at Alآ­Sabah's house.
2000 -- Kuwait witnessed its worst oil catastrophe as a gas leakage caused a massive blast in the oil refinery of Alآ­Ahmadi, killing five people and injuring 50 others.
2001 -- The National Assembly unanimously approved a draft law revoking articles of a decree by law that organizes compulsory military conscription.
2001 -- The National Assembly approved a law specifying number of people that are to be granted Kuwaiti citizenship, setting that to a maximum of 2,000 in the year 2001.
2001 -- The National Assembly approved a law on regulations relating to drafting of budgets and closing accounts.
2004 -- The Kuwaiti Union of Investment Companies was proclaimed.
2004 -- Qadsiyah Sports Club became the first Kuwaiti club to nab the title of three championships in one season after winning the Fahad Alآ­Ahmad football championship, the Amir's Cup, and the Crown Prince Cup.
2005 -- Parliament unanimously approved a draft law regulating affairs of athletes going professional.
2007 -- The National Assembly discussed a grilling motion against oil minister, Sheikh Ali Alآ­Jarrah Alآ­Sabah, presented by MPs Abdullah Alآ­Roumi, Adel Alآ­Sarawi, and Musallam Alآ­Barrak, accusing him of failure to uphold duties and abuse of power as well as trying to affect public opinion on an ongoing case involving embezzlement of state funds.
2008 -- The Interior Ministry announced results of the complementary elections in the fourth constituency with Hisham Alآ­Baghli winning the vote.
2009 -- Voters headed to polling stations to elect 10 members of the Tenth Municipal Council.
2014 -- The National Assembly approved amendments to legislations connected with the housing affairs and the private sector.
