KUWAIT, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- 1966 -- The State of Kuwait signed an agreement for the formation of the Arab Organization for specifications and standards, an Arab League offshoot, approved in Cairo on June 26, 1966.
1990 -- The UN Security Council unanimously approved resolution 669 that instructed the Sanctions Committee to look into all aid requests submitted by States in economic difficulties.
1992 -- Kuwait exported first load of oil extracted from pools and slicks of crude oil formed as a result of the Iraqi occupiers' demolishing of oil installations and rigs.
1996 -- Then First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed the international Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty.
2002 -- Kuwait signed a defense cooperation agreement with Australia.
2004 -- General Assembly of the Asian Handball Federation nominated Kuwait's Energy Minister Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as chairman of the union for 2004-2008 for the fourth consecutive time.
2007 -- Poet Abdulmohsen Al-Rushaid Al-Bader, activist Lulwa Al-Qatami, and the iconic cultural figure, Tareq Al-Sayed Rajab, were granted the State's 2007 honorary prize.
2010 -- Kuwait loaned Rwanda KD 4.1 million to fund a development technical center.
2010 -- Amiri Envoy and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah delivered Kuwait's speech to the 65th UN General Assembly. He announced that Kuwait would increase contribution to UN humanitarian funds and programs.
2011 -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Sabah called on chair of UN General Assembly to encourage Iraq to fulfill commitments to Kuwait regarding resolution 833 on borders between the two neighboring countries. (end) rk
