KUWAIT, July 23 (KUNA) -- 1962 -- A law organising the granting of military medals and badges was issued. The first article of the law stated that they may only be granted by Amiri Decree.
1983 -- A fire erupted in one of the buildings of the Old Seif Palace, due to an electric short, bringing its roof, windows and doors to ashes. The historic relic, including its trademark clock tower, was rebuilt after the Iraqi invasion, as it was completely destroyed at that time.
2000 -- The Cabinet appointed Chief Justice Abdullah Al-Essa as head of the Court of Cassation, the highest legal authority in Kuwait.
2002 -- Minister of Health Mohammad Al-Jarallah issued an order fixing the price of medicines and pharmaceuticals.
2006 -- Under the directions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Cabinet passed a bill to the parliament granting every Kuwaiti citizen a KD 200 bonus.
2007 -- Kuwait declared clear free of the H7N1 'bird-flu' virus by the Ministry of Health, three months after the last case was reported in the country.
2008 -- Fawzi Abdulrasul Al-Majadi was buried in Kuwait, after his remains were handed over by Israel two decades after being killed in an operation against the Israelis in Palestine. (end) rk
