KUWAIT, Dec 20 (KUNA) -- 1958 -- The fourth Arab intellectuals' conference was held in Kuwait.
1970 -- An Amiri Decree was issued amending the income tax law.
1970 -- Afghanistan opened embassy in Kuwait.
1980 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued decree-law number 104/1980 endorsing Kuwait's joining of the convention on the establishment of the African Development Bank.
1983 -- An Amiri Decree dissolved the Municipal Council and calls for new elections.
1987 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued decree-law number 55/1987 allowing the use of organs from deceased people for use in transplants and the selling of organs of living people.
1997 -- The 18th GCC summit opened, the third to be held in Kuwait.
2001 -- UN General Assembly adopted a resolution urging Iraq to release Kuwaiti and other POWs. One hundred members vote for the resolution, two against (Libya and Sudan) and 63 abstains.
2002 -- Chairman of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Sheikh Fahad Salem Al-Ali inaugurated Abu Hulaifa public park.
2003 -- First diplomatic club was established under the Foreign Ministry for encouraging friendship and understanding of diverse cultures.
2004 -- MPs grilled Minister of Information Mohammad Abulhassan, accusing him of violating six legislative laws.
2005 -- Kuwait hosted meetings of the third regular session of the central council of the International Union of Arab Labor Unions.
2005 -- Physician at Al-Bahar Eye Center Adel Al-Baloushi removed a nine-centimeter worm from a patient's eye, in a rare operation in the Middle East. Doctors say it is the result of polluted food or drinks.
2007 -- The new headquarters of the Kuwaiti Hajj Mission in Makkah was inaugurated. (end) tg
