KUWAIT, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- 1955 -- Water vendors warned by Kuwait Municipality against hiking prices.
1962 -- Launch of Kuwait Public Transport Company with a capital of KD 2 million.
1991 -- Kuwait and the United States signed a 10-year Defense Agreement during a visit by Kuwaiti Minister of Defense Sheikh Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah to Washington.
1994 -- Kuwait signed the nuclear safety agreement which was drafted in Vienna.
1999 -- Kuwaiti Health Minister Dr. Mohammad Al-Jarallah was elected as Vice-President of the 46th session of the World Health Organization East Mediterranean region held in Cairo.
2000 -- Kuwaiti shooter Fuhaid Al-Daihani won Kuwait's first Olympic medal, clinching bronze in the double trap shooting event at the Sydney Games.
2001 -- Kuwait was elected member of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency during meetings in Vienna.
2002 -- The Ministry of Communications announced substantial cuts reaching up to 70 percent in international call tariffs.
2010 -- Yassir Al-Habib was stripped off his Kuwaiti citizenship - by decree of the Deputy Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for insulting religious icons and inciting sedition, disharmony and sectarianism in the country.
2010 -- Kuwait and Russia signed a joint five-year MoU in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, minerals excavation, building a network of nuclear reactors and accomodating infrastructure.
2010 -- Kuwait hosted first conference and exhibition on modes of transportation. The event discussed the Kuwait Metro project, the future of the shipbuilding industry and joint Arab plans to upgrade the efficiency of its maritime fleet. (end) gta
