KUWAIT, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- 1973 -- Nasser Abdul-Latif Al-Essa, one of Kuwait's most renowned sea captains, passed away at the age of 84.
1979 -- The Public Warehousing Company was established with the aim of providing storage areas for leasing.
1986 -- Kuwaiti oil tanker "Al-Fintas" was attacked at sea, 35 naval miles from Khafji, caused a fire in one of its storage tanks.
1990 -- The State of Kuwait was elected Deputy Chair of the Atomic Energy Agency during the 43rd General Assembly held in Vienna.
1992 -- Kuwaiti female actress, Aisha Al-Ibrahim, passed away at the age of 48. Al-Ibrahim was a pioneer among Kuwaiti female actresses and participated in more than 37 theatre and television drama productions.
1993 -- Chairman of the UN Special Committee for the demarcation of the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border announced that the committee is now dissolved after completing its mission.
1998 -- Kuwait gained support from all members of the International Legal Network on the Internet to be the regional center for the organization.
2000 -- Chairman of the Environmental Public Authority Dr. Mohammed Al-Saraawi was elected as an independent judge in a panel made up of GCC representatives to supervise the Ford Award for the preservation of the environment with the support of the International Nature Fund.
2000 -- The Cabinet approved a security project to be implemented in Kuwaiti regional waters with the aim of stopping infiltrators and drug traffickers who try to enter Kuwait by sea.
2001 -- Health Minister Dr. Mohammed Al-Jarallah inaugurated the e-file project in clinics, which replaced hardcopy medical files of patients.
2004 -- Kuwait's national handball team won the 9th Youth Handball Tournament held in Haidarabad, India, after emerging victorious from the final game against the Korean team with 26-24.
2006 -- Jassem Mohammad Al-Saqer, one of the contributors to Kuwait's political and economic development, passed away at the age of 88.
2006 -- Sanebel Al-Khair Charitable Society was promulgated.
2008 -- The Constitutional Court, headed by Justice Rashed Al-Hammad, ruled for the annulment of the parliament membership of Mubarak Al-Waalan and Abdullah Mehdi Al-Ajmi, who were replaced by Askar Al-Enizi and Saadoun Hammad for the fourth and fifth constituencies, respectively. This comes after contestations of the 2008 parliamentary elections are filed.
2010 -- Ministry of Interior issued statement banning illegal gatherings that would affect national unity.
2012 -- Kuwaiti academic Ali Ashoor Al-Jaafar in the Faculty of Education, achieved patent for "the teaching of multiplication tables in maximum time". 2012 -- Abdulwahad Al-Hajji claimed bronze medal for Kuwait in the International Earth Science Olympiad in Argentina. (end) gta
