1962 -- The Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued decree number 6/62 dividing Kuwait into three governorates; Kuwait, Hawally, and Ahmadi.
1966 -- Kuwait Marine Sports Club was proclaimed.
1973 -- A historic football game was held at Shuwaikh High School between Brazil's Santos Club and Kuwait's Qadisiya Club. The game, attended by some 30, 000 people, ended with a tie of 1-1, scored by Brazil's Pele and Kuwait's Jassem Yaqoub.
1975 -- Abdullatif Al-Kuwaiti, a leading Kuwaiti singer, passed away at the age of 74.
1995 -- Boubyan Petrochemicals Company was established to produce, sell, and import all types of petrochemical products.
2002 -- Kuwaiti doctor, Jamal Al-Merjan, succeeded in restoring the vision of a 70-year-old man after transplating an artificial cornea, in the first such surgery in the Middle East.
2013 -- Kuwait and South Sudan signed an agreement to establish diplomatic ties. (end) gta
