KUWAIT, Oct 11 (KUNA) -- 1955 -- The late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed an additional oil treaty with Darcy-Kuwait Limited and Gulf-Kuwait Company on money payments and trading crude oil.
1964 -- The late Deputy Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issued an Amiri Decree regarding military supplies for the Ministry of Defense and security forces that are pardoned from Law 37/64, which included ground, marine and air weaponry. It also included artillery, gunboats, spare parts, radio and radar equipment, mine detectors, camouflage nets, army uniforms, military badges and emblems.
1993 -- The State of Kuwait signed the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal.
2000 -- Kuwait, represented by Dr. Talal Fhaid Al-Azmi became the regional consultant for West Asian countries during the International Conference for the Protection of the Environment, held in Jordan.
2002 -- Kuwaiti Karateka Ahmad Munir won gold medal for the under 75 kilograms weight category in the 14th Asian Games held in Busan, South Korea.
2004 -- Abdurrahman Al-Abdulmughni specialized health center was opened in Al-Faiha district. The center groups dental, diabetes and family clinics.
2005 -- Kuwaiti inventor Dr. Adel Al-Fodari was granted a patent for an experimental scientific study he conducted on an integrated information network that allowed transfer of data among all international aid and humanitarian organizations. The patent was given to Al-Fodari by Lafbra University, one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious scientific institutions.
2010 -- Kuwait joined the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) becoming its 23rd member.
2010 -- Kuwait and Tunisia signed cooperation agreements in investment, industrial and cargo fields.
2010 -- Dr. Fayzah Al-Kharafi opened first leadership and training conference for Arab women.
2010 -- Kuwait fencing team won 17th Arab tournament held in Beirut, Lebanon.
2010 -- Kuwait became board member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
2013 -- Kuwait signed the Minamata Convention on Mercury, an international treaty designed to protect human health and the environment from anthropogenic emissions and releases of mercury and mercury compounds. (end) gta
