KUWAIT, July 6 (KUNA) -- 1961 -- Kuwait officially applied to join the United Nations as member state.
1969 -- An Amiri Decree was issued ratifying the signing of an agreement between the government of Kuwait and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). Kuwait donated USD 200,000 to UNICEF.
1977 -- An Amiri Decree was issued to establish a transportation company with a capital of KD 10 million.
2001 -- Kuwait's shooting team brought home the gold medal in the shooting double-trap team competition of the 16th Asian Championship in Thailand, with 382 points.
2003 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, accepted resignation of the Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, and the cabinet, after results of the National Assembly elections for the 10th legislative term were announced.
2004 -- Khaitan Sports Club won for the first time the Seventh Arab Squash Championship for men and the first championship for the age category of under 13, held in Beirut. (end) gta
