1963 -- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia agreed on dividing the neutral zone into two regions, one integrated into the State of Kuwait territory and the other into the Kingdom's land. The two parties' rights are to be equal in the whole divided region.
The agreement was worked out at end of Saudi-Kuwaiti negotiations, held in the Saudi eastern port of Al-Aqeer -- thus the agreement was called Al-Aqeer Treaty.
1979 -- His Highness the (late) Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued Decree-into-Law 65/1979 stipulating that Qataris would be treated on equal par with Kuwaitis. 1990 -- His Highness the (late) Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah addressed the Kuwaiti people, urging them to pursue resisting the Iraqi occupation, affirming that Kuwait was not alone in the battle against the occupiers. He also vowed to liberate the country, stressing the occupiers would not succeed in undermining the national unity.
1991 -- His Highness the (late) Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued Amiri Decree 67/1991, appointing a board of trustees at the Martyr's Office.
1998 -- The National Assembly (Parliament) approved a bill repealing provisions that prohibit placing State affiliated and independent authorities under the Audit Bureau's supervision. It exempted the Central Bank of Kuwait, daily oil sales, investments with no advance examination. The repeal should be in effect, provided that the measure would not contradict with the public funds' protection law.
2008 -- Kuwait's juniors handball team crowned champion in the Asian 11th tournament for the fifth time.
2010 -- The parliamentary Kuwaiti-Japanese committee was inaugurated at the Japanese Parliament's headquarters.
2012 -- The Kuwaiti shooter Fehaid Al-Dihani won the first bronze for Kuwait in the 30th Olympic tournament, held in London.
2013 -- His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad opened museum of the astronomer, Dr. Saleh Al-Ojairi.
2013 -- Abdullah Al-Fadhel won the US jet-skiing championship. (end) rk
