KUWAIT, March 5 (KUNA) -- 1903 -- A Russian military vessel visited Kuwait and Russian officers on board were received by the then Amir, His Highness Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah.
1960 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issued Decree 3/1960 on pensions for civil servants.
1966 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah placed corner stones of Al-Shuaiba refinery, which was opened in April 1968.
1975 -- All rights and agreements of Kuwait Oil Company, and accords signed between the government and the Kuwait BB Company and Kuwait Gulf Company, were nullified. The State became the sole owner of oil installations on Kuwaiti territories.
1978 -- Kuwait Society for Plot Dealers was established.
1991 -- Iraq annulled all regulations and rules concerning annexation of Kuwait.
1991 -- His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah headed the first Cabinet meeting in liberated Kuwait.
2004 -- Arab Group of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) assigned Kuwait's permanent representative Dr. Abdulrazzaq Al-Nafisi as head of the consultative committee of the Arab culture development plan.
2005 -- Kuwait hosted the 6th games of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) universities and higher studies institutions. A total of 19 educational institutions and 1,000 people participated in the games, and the Kuwaiti team won all the gold medals, except for that of the athletics, bagging the silver.
2007 -- The Kuwaiti athlete Ali Al-Eidan was listed in the Guinness Book of Records after climbing the Liberation Tower, the world's fifth highest communications tower.
2008 -- Kuwait Olympics Committee Chairman Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah inaugurated the First Gulf Sports Tournament for Women.
2008 -- Dr. Ahmad Abdullah Al-Rubaei, former minister of education, MP and media figure, passed away at the age of 59. (end) gta
