1954 -- The government forms a special panel after the country was showered with torrential rain that demolished 50 houses.
1962 -- Famous medicine expert Ahmad bin Mohammad Al-Ghanim passed away aged 105. Al-Ghanim treated patients in his clinic at his home in the eastern part of Kuwait City for free.
1965 -- An Amiri Decree was issued to form the fifth cabinet in the history of Kuwait.
1966 -- Al-Jahraa Sports Club was established.
1974 -- An Amiri Decree was issued to establish the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University.
1984 -- Kuwaiti plane Kazma, flying from Kuwait to Dubai and Karachi, was hijacked and forced to land in Tehran. The hijacking lasts for six days, during which the kidnappers killed two hostages. The plane was held at an Iranian airport for 17 months before Kuwait retrieved it on May 5, 1986.
2006 -- Deputy Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad issued law 47/2006 to ratify the UN Convention Against Corruption, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in a resolution on October 31, 2003. Kuwait had signed the convention on December 9, 2003.
2007 -- Kuwait hosted the 11th Asian Shooting Championship.
2007 -- The National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL) honored poet Ahmad Al-Saqqaf at the 14th Qurain Cultural Festival.
2007 -- Minister of Justice and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Shihab issued a decision recognizing "Al-Majmouaa Al-Khairiya" charity organization which aims to provide development and social services and family counseling.(end) haq
