KUWAIT, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- 1990 -- The Kuwaiti government disbursed housing allowances and other bonuses to Kuwaitis who are outside Kuwait during the flagrant Iraqi occupation of the homeland.
1992 -- A bomb blast damaged a store for tape-recorded songs in Khaitan.
1996 -- Kuwait hosted, for the first time, the Gulf Karate Championship. Kuwait wins the tournament with 23 medals, including 15 gold.
1998 -- First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurated the building of Kuwait Embassy in South Africa.
2000 -- The Kuwaiti Volunteer Work Committee was proclaimed.
2005 -- Kuwait granted USD 500 million to the US for aiding victims of Hurricane Katrina.
2005 -- The Kuwaiti Society for Amateur Stamps Collectors was proclaimed.
2006 -- Deputy Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued a decree transferring the Information Ministry's tourism and intellectual property departments to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
2009 -- Kuwait national basketball youth team was crowned champion at the 12th GCC championship, beating Bahrain by a score of 80/65.
