KUWAIT, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- 1964 -- The Islamic Society for Social Reform (Al-Islah Al-Ijtmaee) was established as a non-governmental organization aimed at promoting Islamic awareness in the Kuwaiti society.
1978 -- Qur'an radio channel launched.
1984 -- The Kuwaiti Society for Organ Transplants was promulgated.
1990-- Iraq formed a so-called "Free Kuwait Interim Government" after two days of its invasion and start of the occupation of the country.
1990 -- The 19th Conference of Muslim Foreign Ministers held in Cairo denounced the Iraqi invasion and occupation of Kuwait and demanded immediate withdrawal of Iraqi troops.
1996 -- The cabinet named Mishref Cultural Center after Abdulaziz Hussein, in appreciation for his leading role in culture and public service during his lifetime.
1999 -- The Municipal Council elected Ahmad Al-Adsani as chairman and Roudhan Al-Roudhan as his deputy.
2000 -- The Interior Ministry adopted an invention of the Scientific Club which is a time watch placed at traffic lights to warn drivers to stop at the yellow light before it turns red. The invention was registered with the Commerce Ministry and the inventors got a GCC patent.
2001 -- The State of Kuwait and the Dominican Republic signed a document to establish diplomatic relations in a ceremony held on this occasion in the Dominican Republic's capital city, Santo Domingo.
2003 -- An Amiri Decree was issued transferring supervision of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) from the Finance Ministry to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2007 -- The Cabinet approved recommendations of the joint information-foreign ministry committee on operations of offices abroad, which included closure of the offices and holding Kuwaiti information and cultural weeks in the concerned countries.
2010 -- Kuwait donated USD 5 million in aid of flood victims in Pakistan, the Kuwaiti Red Crescent in coordination with the Foreign Ministry were assigned to transfer humanitarian aid to Pakistan.
2013 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued decree 209/2013 to form new Kuwaiti government. (end) gta
