KUWAIT, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- 1990 -- Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah visited the UK and meets with British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, where he expressed Kuwait's appreciation for British support to Kuwait since the Iraqi invasion on August 2, 1990.
1998 -- Kuwait participated in the 12th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Durban, South Africa. During the meeting, Kuwait urged members of the movement to call on Iraq to comply with all UN Security Council resolutions while expressing its sympathy towards the suffering of the Iraqi people.
2000 -- Kuwait and Pakistan signed records on the exchange of ratification documents of the dual taxation and tax evasion agreement.
2006 -- Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Mutawa, a leading Muslim cleric and philanthropist, passed away at the age of 80. He founded the Muslim Guidance Society in 1950, the first organized and institutionalized Islamic society in the country. He also founded the Social Reform (Islah) Society in the 1960s and remained its chairman till his death.
2006 -- His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued an order approving Kuwait's signing of the International Plant Protection Convention of the Food and Agriculture Organization. (end) gta
