KUWAIT, March 3 (KUNA) -- 1939 -- The American Mission inaugurated a 34-bed women's hospital. The hospital offered services of two female doctors assisted by a number of nurses.
1959 -- Law 1/1959 was issued stipulating that all Kuwaiti and foreign merchants and companies based in Kuwait, or with a local branch or agency, must register in the commercial logbook.
1962 -- The State of Kuwait established diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level with Japan.
1991 -- Kuwait liberation war coalition commanders met representatives of Iraqi armed forces and an agreement was reached on Iraq's implementation of all United Nations resolutions.
2002 -- Eminent Kuwaiti formative artist, Safwan Al-Ayoubi, passed away at the age of 59.
2003 -- The parliament held a session for an interpellation motion, submitted by MP Abdullah Al-Naibari against Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Mohammad Dhaifallah Sharar over the cabinet approval of the project of Al-Khairan Pearls and the allocation of a land plot in Al-Ardiya for Al-Wasilah Company. A no-confidence motion was also submitted against the minister, but the cabinet renewed confidence in him at a session held on March 17, 2003.
2004 -- Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated Sabah Al-Ahmad Natural Reserve which aims at the preservation of indigenous fauna and flora on an area of 320 square kilometers.
2008 -- Kuwait Sports Club for the Disabled won 24 medals (10 gold, three silver, and 11 bronze) in the First West Asian Athletic Games for the Disabled, held in the UAE.
2008 -- Kuwait Sports Club won, for the third time, the Crown Prince Football Cup after beating Qadsiya 1-0 in the final match. (end) gta
