KUWAIT, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- 1897 -- Kuwait's seventh ruler, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, met with the assistant British political agent requesting protection of the Gulf emirate from the Ottoman Empire.
1971 -- The State of Kuwait established diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level with Bahrain.
1976 -- HH the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued an Amiri Order concerning the social security law.
1992 -- HH the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, participated in the Non-Aligned Movement Summit held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
1997 -- The Cabinet approved Kuwait's membership in the World Health Organization's Mediterranean center for common diseases, based in Athens, Greece.
