1969 -- Ministry of Information released first monthly edition of a publication entitled "From the International Theatre.
1972 -- The Kuwaiti Geographical Society was established.
1983 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, opened the regular session of the fifth legislative term of the National Assembly.
1995 -- The Ministry of Health declared implementation of the "No Smoking Law" in public places. The law covered both the private and public sectors in which a special place for smokers must be defined. The law penalized those who smoke on streets and at open places with a fee of KD 50, doubled if the violation was repeated.
1996 -- Al-Qurain housing project won a certificate of appreciation from the executive office of the Council of Arab Housing Ministers, held in Cairo.
1997 -- The Fish Market on the Gulf road was open.
2000 -- The Ministers of Health of the east Mediterranean region elected Kuwait as the chairman of the 47th session for their committee's meeting, held in Cairo.
2002 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, issued decree number 255 for the year 2002 which agreed on the establishment of a joint supreme committee between the State of Kuwait and Qatar.
2002 -- The cost of international phone call is cut by 70 percent by the Ministry of Communications, the lowest cost among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
2002 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, issued an Amiri decree establishing a shareholding company for media under the name of "Al-Jazeera Media Group" with a capital of 10 million KD. The company was aimed at establishing theatres in Kuwait and abroad. (end) rk
