KUWAIT, July 1 (KUNA) -- 1948 -- First issue of the monthly magazine, Kathma, was published, the first to be published in Kuwait.
1961 -- His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah agreed to resort to the Kuwaiti-British agreement, stipulating that London would support Kuwait in face of external aggression, upon request. This came after reports of suspicious Iraqi military movements. British soldiers were then stationed on the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border.
1974 -- Decree-law number 15/74 was issued to establish the Public Authority for Housing Care.
1985 -- Kuwait opened an embassy in Prague.
2001 -- Law number 44/2001 was issued over Kuwait's ratification of the joint GCC Defense Treaty.
2002 -- Bowling player Fadhel Al-Musawi secured Kuwait's first silver medal in the sport in the Asian tournament in Hong Kong.
2003 -- Kuwait Airways launched first direct route between Kuwait and Salalah, Oman.(end) rk
