TEHRAN, Oct 10 (KUNA) -- Iran said Tuesday it planned to increase oil production to six million barrels per day (bpd) by 2023.
Iran will boost production from current 3.9 million bpd to six million bpd by 2023, Ali Kardor, Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company, said in a statement.
The increase of production will require the development of oil fields, he noted.
Iran has been developing its economy since it signed a nuclear agreement with the P5+1 group (UN Security Council five permanent members plus Germany) in the middle of 2015.
The agreement aimed at scrapping Iran's nuclear program to make it unable to produce nuclear weapons in exchange of lifting of economic sanctions. (end) fz.bs
