DOHA, March 23 (KUNA) -- Director General of Kuwait's Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources Affairs (PAAFR) Faisal Al-Hasawi affirmed Thursday Kuwait's dedication to the issues of food security and diverse resources.
Al-Hasawi made his remarks to KUNA on the sidelines of his participating in the fifth Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition. He stressed that Kuwait was keen on diversifying food resources and increasing agricultural production to meet domestic food needs and export surplus.
He pointed out Kuwait's role in supporting local farmers and efforts to upgrade local food industry by providing agricultural land and financial support.
On the GCC cooperation in the field of livestock and fisheries, Al-Hasawi said that GCC countries are working on exchanging experiences and ideas to come up with recommendations and effective solutions that promote optimal investment in agricultural projects and livestock production.
The event is held in the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from March 22 to 25 with attendance of hundreds of local and international companies from the agriculture industry. (end) nnd.haq
