JEDDAH, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- Environment Ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states launched on Wednesday the e-gate as a main mechanism of materializing the vision of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz aiming to promote the joint Gulf action.
This came during the 20th meeting of ministers that kicked off earlier today in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
Speaking at the meeting, Director General and Chairman of Board of Kuwait's Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said: "It pleases us in the State of Kuwait to take part through permanent cooperation with our brothers in GCC states in launching the e-gate of environment whose idea was launched during the 18th meeting of ministers hosted by Kuwait in 2014." The gate is a unified window of reliable data on environment in GCC states, he added, indicating that the gate supports environment studies and researches, and spreads achievements.
It aims to raise awareness on environment and promote means of cooperation amongst GCC countries, he stressed.
He also noted that the State of Kuwait submitted "the project on guiding steps" to assess the environmental impact of GCC states.
The meeting is held to reactivate the Saudi King Salman's vision on environment through a comprehensive Gulf strategy drawn up by a number of commissions and the secretariat, he said.
He stressed keenness of GCC leaders on meeting the demands and aspirations of Gulf citizens. (end) nh.hm
