BEKAA, East Lebanon, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- In a humanitarian gesture, Kuwaiti doctors have conducted more than 20 surgeries for patients and children of displaced Syrians in Lebanon.
Member of the Kuwaiti Medical Association Dr. Ahmad Al-Mohammad said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that he conducted operations for three children of displaced families, pointing out that the operations varied between restoration and modification of distortions of fingers.
Al-Mohammad expressed his happiness to participate in this humanitarian campaign, stressing that the joy of their families could not be described after the arrival of the Kuwaiti Medical Association team.
For his part, member of the Medical Association team, Dr. Khalid Al-Sahlawi said he saw more than 80 cases for children, women and elders in one of the camps who suffered mostly of respiratory illnesses, seasonal ailments and allergy, pointing out that he will receive today an emergency clinic for treatment of patients from displaced persons.
Al-Sahlawi added that these volunteer campaigns "make us feel happy while treating and helping to heal those in need and alleviate their pain".
He said that Kuwaiti doctors have a long history of volunteering humanitarian work, thanks to noble initiative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the "Humanitarian Leader".
For her part, Dr. Hussa Aman, another member of the team, told KUNA that the Kuwaiti ENT doctors conducted eight operations for Syrian children which are considered among the most expensive operations.
Furthermore, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) continued today distribution of school bags on needy Syrian children in south of Lebanon.
KRCS' coordinator Dr. Musaed Al-Enezi told KUNA that food stuff and cleaning materials have been distributed on 250 Syrian families, in addition to 120 school bags.
On his part, Coordinator of the Lebanese Red Cross Yousef Boutros praised the great efforts exerted by KRCS in Lebanon despite all obstacles.(end).
