PARIS, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- French Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron and Overseas Minister George Pau-Langevin resigned, a statement by the Elysee Palace said Tuesday.
The statement said "Emmanuel Macron, handed the President of the Republic his resignation from the government to fully devote himself to his political party." The statement added Pau-Langevin submitted her resignation due to "personal reasons".
The statement noted that the French leader expressed appreciation to the two ministers and their exerted efforts since they took the job in 2014.
The statement added that Premier Manual Valls elected Michel Sapin, the Finance Minister, as the new economy minister as well.
The statement also said Ericka Bareigts will be the Overseas Minister of France.
Macron, 38, is a former investment banker, who formed his own political socialist and leftist party, and is also one of France's most popular politicians. He is widely expected to run for the French presidency election in 2017. (end) mbb.mb
