AMMAN, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait would start soon the execution of an ambitious program to offer vocational and technical training to young Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon, Director General of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science Adnan Shehabeddin announced.
In statements to KUNA following his meetings with Jordanian and UN officials to discuss the program, Shehabeddin stated that the USD 10 million-cost program is a part of the Kuwaiti donations announced by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the international donors' conference in London.
USD 4 million would be allocated to refugees in Jordan and USD 6 million for those in Lebanon, he said.
The program targets youth aged between 12-18 years and aims to qualify them to play their developmental role in the hosting countries and to contribute to their country's rebuilding operations in the future, he said.
Shehabeddin noted that his current visit to discuss the details of the program with the Jordanian and relevant UN agencies and put the final touches on it before launching it next month. (end) mjb.ibi
