BRUSSELS, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has blasted the continued Israeli oppressive policies and violation of international laws and urged the global community to put pressure on Tel Aviv to resume talks with Palestinians.
Speaking at an UN-sponsored international meeting on Palestine, Fahad al-Fadhli , third secretary at the embassy in Brussels, who represented Kuwait at the conference noted the contradictory policies of the Israeli government regarding the Palestine question.
He said the Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he was ready for negotiations with Palestinians just two weeks ago for a two-state solution.
At the same time however, Israel's bulldozers destroyed 25 farms in Ramallah, and before that 63 Palestinian homes were destroyed in the West Bank which displaced 132 Palestinians including 82 children.
"This is the highest number over the last three years. This is an absolute contradiction between the words and deeds of occupying force, but this is something which we are used to by Israel," al Fadhli told the large gathering of diplomats, and representatives of the, civil society, academia and the media.
He said Israel is imposing these policies through illegal settlements, blockade on Gaza and by violating international humanitarian law through its policies and it also fails to respect UN resolution and has rejected regional and international peace initiatives.
The Kuwaiti diplomat called on the international community to put pressure on Israel to resume talks with the Palestinians and put an end to occupation of all Palestinian lands since 1967 and ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital in line with international legality.
The UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), in cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States, has organised a two-day international meeting on the Question of Palestine in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday.
The theme of the two-day conference is "Israeli Settlements as an Obstacle To Peace .. Possible Ways Forward." (end) nk.tg
