AMMAN, July 29 (KUNA) -- a number of Kuwaiti and Jordanian parliamentarians stressed the importance of unifying efforts in countering religious extremism and terrorism through promoting a moderate secular environment.
These remarks were made during meetings that took place between a visiting Kuwaiti delegation of MPs to Jordan and their Jordanian counterparts.
Jordan's house speaker Atef Tarawneh and Deputy National Assembly Speaker Mubarak Al-Khurainij both condemned terrorism and called for setting up a program that unifies Muslims and rejects extremism and violence.
They also lauded bilateral ties and the support given by Kuwait to Jordan to help the latter country in overcoming its various political, economic, security turbulences.
They also tackled Kuwaiti investments in Jordan that are playing a major role in supporting vital parts in the country. Jordan has facilitated Kuwaiti investments and opened its door to Kuwaiti businessmen by eliminating any obstacles they might face. Other parliamentarians from both sides also voiced out similar concerns and interest.
A Kuwaiti delegation arrived in Jordan yesterday on an official visit until July 31. The delegation is headed by Al-Khurainij who is accompanied by MPs Hamdan Al-Azmi and Majid Mousa Al-Mutairi. (end) mjb.nfm
