KUWAIT, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- Ahmad Khalil contributed two goals to a 3-2 win for the United Arab Emirates over Iraq as they came back from a goal down to clinch the Asian Cup bronze in New South Wales, Australia on Friday.
Iraq was a goal up at the end of the first half, as Khalil's earlier strike in the 17th minute was cancelled out by Walid Al-Lami in the 29th minute before Amjad Khalaf added another just before the whistle.
But it was a story of Emirati determination as Khalil put his side back on level pegging only five minutes into the second half, before his fellow striker Ali Mabkhout struck his fifth top-scoring Asian Cup goal on the penalty spot.
The match will be followed a day later by the final between hosts Australia and South Korea.
Mabkhout has a chance of taking the Golden Boot providing Australia's Tim Cahill, who has three goals to his name, does not score more than two. (end) ha.sd
