KUWAIT, Dec 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti-UAE relations are historic in nature and firmly interlinked both politically and socially and have set an example for others to take note of, said National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim in a press statement on Thursday.
No one in Kuwait or the UAE needs ocular proof to realize the extent of relations between the two countries which goes back deep in history, said the Speaker, adding that "the caustic criticism -- on a TV show -- of Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE is categorically rejected and totally unacceptable in any way it is viewed." Al-Ghanim stressed that the National Assembly took all the necessary legal steps regarding this incident on the TV show the very day after it had been aired.
He affirmed strongly that neither himself nor any Kuwaiti would accept or tolerate any injurious criticism of Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahayan since the latter has a special place in the hearts of all Kuwaitis.
The Speaker further said that the UAE Crown Prince "is not only an exalted personage for the UAE but also for Kuwait, the Gulf, and the Arab world", stressing the UAE and Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahayan's honorable backing of Kuwait during the dark days of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
Al-Ghanim emphasized that "no one can embarrass us with our brothers in the UAE as we Kuwaitis and Emaratis are two peas in a pod and no one can separate us." He ended his statement by saying he understood the feeling of unease on the part of Emaratis regarding this incident on the TV show and stressing that for the past two days Kuwaitis have vividly registered their rejection of what was said on the show about the highly esteemed personage of Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
