ANKARA, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- Turkish security authorities said Friday unknown persons sent envelopes containing "yellow powder" to consulates of Germany, Canada, Belgium, the US and France, all in Istanbul.
The Turkish AFAD emergency agency chemical, radiology and nuclear team has begun investigations about the envelopes, the authorities said in a statement.
The staff and buildings of the German, Belgian and Canadian consulates have been sanitized soon after reporting the reception of the suspicious envelopes, they added.
Ten employees from the Canadian consulate, four from the German's and Two from the Belgian consulate were taken to Bakirkoy Hospital in Istanbul for examination, noted the statement.
Samples of the powder were sent to a laboratory in Ankara, and the results will be announced once completed. (end) rs.bs
