KUWAIT, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Al-Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah said an agreement with the Dutch city of Rotterdam to train Kuwaitis has contributed to development in Kuwait.
Sheikh Ibrahim, at a joint news conference with the Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb on Monday, called for exploring further opportunities of cooperation between Al-Ahmadi Governorate and Rotterdam to "enrich sectors of education, health, culture, security and safety, oil industry and petrochemicals." The agreement that Sheikh Ibrahim mentioned to train the Kuwaiti nationals was part of a twinning accord between Al-Ahmadi Governorate and Rotterdam.
The governor praised the hard work of employees of Kuwait Petroleum International, better known as Q8, in the Netherlands.
He noted that Q8 owned and operated an oil refinery and gas stations, and was supplying Amsterdam Airport with oil products.
Sheikh Ibrahim underlined importance of the Rotterdam Port as well as the city of Rotterdam, which was active in oil and petrochemical industries.
Aboutaleb said the Dutch side was very interested in environment issues.
He said Rotterdam was studying a project to restructure Kuwait oil refinery in the city with the objective of expanding the facility to produce new products like diesel and aircraft fuel.
