TOKYO, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- The Japanese Government decided on Friday to freeze additional assets in Japan held by North Korean individuals and organizations, the Foreign Ministry announced.
The new measures, effective Friday, include a freeze on the assets of two more individuals and nine organizations for their alleged involvement in North Korea's nuclear weapons, missiles and weapons of mass destruction development programs, the ministry said in a statement.
"North Korea has not taken specific steps toward giving up its nuclear and missile programs and resolve the issue of the abductions of Japanese nationals, " Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a news conference.
"We urge North Korea to take concrete steps to resolve the issues," the top government spokesman said.
Additional sanctions come in response to a similar decision by the U.S. government earlier this year against the same entities and individuals, including Daedong Credit Bank and Korea's Daesong Bank. (end) mk.ma KUNA 301825 Aug 13NNNN
