CAIRO, July 8 (KUNA) -- Up to 42 people were killed and some 322 others
were wounded in the armed attack intended to burst into heavily-guarded
compound of the Republican Guards at dawn on Monday, an official announced.
Dr. Mohammad Sultan, the head of emergency, said in a statement broadcast
by the official Middle East News Agency the dead bodies and the wounded were
dispatched to hospitals located near the scene.
The heavy casualty was inflicted when a group of gunmen attempted to storm
into the compound of the facility at dawn today. MENA had reported that 200 of
the attackers were arrested, adding that large caches of arms, ammunition and
cocktail molotov were found in their possession.
Meanwhile, a military source said two army soldiers were kidnapped by
followers of the ousted president, Mohamed Morsi, in the region of Ain Shams
