KHARTOUM, June 9 (KUNA) -- Sudanese Minister of Culture and Information Ahmad Bilal welcomed on Sunday the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, under construction, saying it will serve his country's interests.
"Ethiopia shared Sudan all details of the dam (also known as Hidase Dam) and involved Sudanese engineers and technicians in the execution of this project," Bilal told reporters, lauding the cooperation with Addis Ababa in this regard.
"The bilateral ties with Ethiopia are growing steadily and Sudan welcomes all Ethiopians with open arms," he affirmed.
Bilal criticized some Egyptian politicians for casting doubts on the project and on Sudan's stance.
However, he expressed respect for the Egyptian government for making no official remarks against Sudan, advising those who do not realize the nature of the bilateral ties "not to spoil these ties." (end) hhi.gb KUNA 092320 Jun 13NNNN
