KUWAIT, May 15 (KUNA) -- The official launch of transferring phone numbers from one mobile network operator to another service in Kuwait will take place mid-June, Minister of Communications and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Salem Al-Utheina said Wednesday.
On the sidelines of the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day celebration, organized by the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) on Wednesday, the Minister said that the service is currently "in pilot phase as some of the technical problems are being addressed and will be solved by some of the telecom companies." In response to KUNA's question on the offers presented to Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) on aircraft rental and purchase, Al-Utheina said that KAC board of directors has received several offers from international companies (Airbus) and (Boeing), noting that the board approved Airbus' low cost offer as it complies with the terms of the Amiri aviation.
The Ministry of Communications conducted a pilot launch for the service between the three telecom operators in Kuwait in April, 15, in cooperation with the National Company for Technology Projects.
The period between the experimental and official launches is expected to address technical, administrative and accounting problems that the customers may face with the service launch.
The service aims to increase competitiveness in the telecommunication market and provides customers greater flexibility in switching from one mobile network to another while keeping their phone numbers. (end) mjb.abd.ba KUNA 151912 May 13NNNN
