VATICAN CITY, April 19 (KUNA) -- Sheikha Hussah Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah,
Director-General and Co-founder of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah (DAI) of Kuwait,
joins later on Friday eminent figures from around the world in an
international forum on religious freedom.
The forum, organized by the Pontifical Council for Culture and the global
program TEDx, will be held at the Vatican grand hall, the Auditorium della
Conciliazione. Lecturers are scheduled to address religious freedom from
creative cultural, artistic and scientific perspectives.
Archbishop Giancarlo Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for
Culture, is due to open the event, to be broadcast by various media and
electronic networks.
Sheikha Hussa will be among prominent figures in addressing the
international forum, along with astronomer Guy Consolmagno, chemist Pilar
Mateo, singer Gloria Estefan, basketball player Vlade Divac, Mexican architect
Fernando Romero and Chinese educational specialist Wenzhong Wang.
In her address, the renowned Kuwaiti personality tackles art as a concept
in light of her long and rich experience, its effects on man's intellectual
thoughts, interaction and dialogue among various peoples of the world.
The forum sheds light on freedom of belief as a basic human right, role of
religion in man upbringing.
On Thursday, Sheikha Hussa commended the amicable relationship between the
State of Kuwait and the Vatican City. Speaking to KUNA following her meeting
with Pope Francis, she said: "I've had the honor to be the first Kuwaiti
official to meet Pope Francis since he took office in mid-March."
Sheikha Hussah praised as cordial the atmosphere of the meeting, saying
that Pope Francis expressed sincere desire to boost inter-faith dialogue and
understanding among nations. (end)
