GAZA, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Israeli artillery shelling injured four Palestinians in Deir Al-Balah village in central Gaza Strip late on Saturday.
Israeli artillerymen, positioned east of the enclave, fired volleys of shells toward houses of Palestinians east of Deir Al-Balah, injuring four citizens, local radios reported on Sunday.
The shells exploded on alleways snaking among a number of houses in the village, causing severe damage.
Medics boarding ambulances with wailing sirens rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to close hospitals to receive treatment. The injuries of two of them were above average. One suffered from severe cuts and was transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital for treatment, the radio stations added.
Palestinians accused the Israeli forces of violating the truce, signed two weeks ago, under Egyptian mediation, which stopped an Israel offensive on Gaza that killed 175 people and injured 1,550 others.
In recent days, Israeli Army troops killed two Palestinians and injured 20 others, besides arresting Palestinian fishermen who were fishing in sea waters off the strip.
Hamas movement has accused Israel of violating the truce, worked out on November 21.
Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine warned in a statement, "Continued blatant Israeli violations of the cease-fire would force Palestinian factions to respond in the manner they deem appropriate." (end) mzt.lb KUNA 021105 Dec 12NNNN
