GAZA, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Israeli artillery shelling injured four Palestinians
in Deir Al-Balah village in central Gaza Strip late on Saturday.
Israeli artillerymen, positioned east of the enclave, fired volleys of
shells toward houses of Palestinians east of Deir Al-Balah, injuring four
citizens, local radios reported on Sunday.
The shells exploded on alleways snaking among a number of houses in the
village, causing severe damage.
Medics boarding ambulances with wailing sirens rushed to the scene and
transferred the injured to close hospitals to receive treatment. The injuries
of two of them were above average. One suffered from severe cuts and was
transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital for treatment, the radio stations added.
Palestinians accused the Israeli forces of violating the truce, signed two
weeks ago, under Egyptian mediation, which stopped an Israel offensive on Gaza
that killed 175 people and injured 1,550 others.
In recent days, Israeli Army troops killed two Palestinians and injured 20
others, besides arresting Palestinian fishermen who were fishing in sea waters
off the strip.
Hamas movement has accused Israel of violating the truce, worked out on
November 21.
Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine warned in a statement,
"Continued blatant Israeli violations of the cease-fire would force
Palestinian factions to respond in the manner they deem appropriate." (end)
