GAZA, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- An Israeli senior government official said Saturday Gaza Strip should be brought back to the middle ages because of the ongoing firing of rockets at southern Israel.
"The infrastructure of water and electricity networks, roads, transport and communications in the strip should be destroyed in order to realize calm for a long period," the Israeli public radio quoted interior minister Eli Yishai as saying.
Yishai, a member in the Israeli mini-cabinet for political and security affairs, said he was careless if he was criticized for his remarks.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army said five Israelis were injured and some buildings were damaged by Palestinian rockets.
An army spokesman said Palestinian armed men fired scores of rockets and mortar shells from Gaza at southern Israel. (end) mzt.bs KUNA 172354 Nov 12NNNN
