ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- More than 10 suspected militants were killed and several others wounded in a US missile strike in Pakistan's bordering tribal belt, a day after Islamabad lodged protest with the US on unabated missile strikes.
Two unmanned aircrafts fired about ten missiles at different areas in a village, located on the border of South and North Waziristan tribal agencies, security sources told KUNA.
They said the strike killed more than ten suspected militants and wounded several others. Tribal sources said that the drones targeted houses of local tribesmen. They feared rise in the death toll and some figures suggested that more than fifteen suspects have been killed.
The identities of those killed were not yet revealed. However, tribal sources said that some of the killed belonged to Punjab province and also, foreign nationals of Arab origin.
The strike came only a day after the Foreign Office in Islamabad summoned a US diplomat and lodged protest over continuing drone strikes.
Islamabad said that the strikes are against international laws and a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty. It was emphatically stated that such attacks were unacceptable. (end) amn.asa KUNA 241215 Aug 12NNNN
