BAGHDAD, July 9 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama Al-Nujaifi discussed on Monday with UN Secretary General Envoy to Iraq Martin Kobler the formation of an independent higher commission for election, including a proposed reform resolution presented by the national coalition on the possibility of finding a solution to the current political crisis in the country.
A statement by the Speaker office said that Al-Nujaifi expressed pleasure for the keenness of the UN representative to engage in the formation process, noting on the ongoing discussion inside experts committee members concerning a collective meeting with all political parties involved.
The Iraqi lawmaker added that election date must be respected and the creation of the new high commission will include women participation, noting that there are legislations that lawmakers are keen to end put forward, primarily provinces council law and other constitutional amendments.
Al-Nujaifi welcomed the renewal of UN mission in Iraq for another year, particularly amid the "unstable conditions in country." For his part, Kobler thanked the Iraqi Speaker for keenness to represent women and Turkmen in the election commission, expressing readiness to provide all type of support in this regard.
