KUWAIT, June 27 (KUNA) -- Head of the Kuwaiti Team for Preservation of Kuwaiti Folklore and Artifacts Anwar Al-Rifaei revealed on Wednesday that the team has possession of the rarest copy of the Holy Quran produced in Kuwait back in 1253 in the reign of the third Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber bin Abdullah bin Sabah.
The copy is in excellent condition and is the work of calligrapher Sulaiman bin Mohammad Al-Ghanim. Al-Rifaei also said it is in beautiful penmanship and is testimony to the sophisticated level of education at the time. The Islamic patterns adorning the beginning and end of the holy manuscript also indicate a sophisticated level of artistic creativity and production, he noted.
The team leader said the copy would be put on exhibit at Al-Uthman House museum in Hawally, and the team is also preparing to have it displayed at three other museums to help shed light on the artistic legacy behind its production.
The Kuwaiti Team for Preservation of Kuwaiti Folklore and Artifacts is a volunteer group under the umbrella of the Volunteer Work Center and exerts efforts aimed at preserving and shedding light on Kuwaiti legacy, folklore, and artifacts in cooperation with the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters and other state institutions.(end) mf.wsa KUNA 271119 Jun 12NNNN
