CAIRO, May 14 (KUNA) -- The Arab League decided Monday to postpone a meeting that would gather Syrian opposition groups after two groups requested a rescheduling of the May 16-17 meeting.
Syria National Council (SNC) and the national coordination authority of the national democratic change forces have asked the Arab League to postpone the meeting, the pan-Arab organization said in a statement, but did not mention the reasons of the postponement.
Arab foreign ministers, in their April 26 meeting, called for the May 16 meeting in a bid to bring the Syrian opposition groups under a single umbrella.
The Arab League and the international envoy to Syria Kofi Annan are ready to continue contacts with the Syrian opposition groups in order to create suitable circumstances to hold the meeting. (end) mfm.bs KUNA 142233 May 12NNNN
