SANAA, April 24 (KUNA) -- The man responsible for finances in Al-Qaeda Organization in the Arab Peninsula, Mohammad Saeed Al-Omda, has been killed in northeast of Yemen, a security source said Tuesday.
The source, cited by official news agency (Saba), said 34-year-old Al-Omda, also known as Abu Ghareeb Al-Ta'azi, was killed with his companions in "an accute intelligent operation" in an area located between the governorates of Maareb and Al-Jouf.
Al-Omda is responsible for financial affairs of Al-Qaeda, he said, and added that he was the fourth senior Al-Qaeda official.
Al-Omda escaped from the political security prison in Sanaa in the early 2006 through a tunnel. In mid-2010, he released an audio tape warning of waging more attacks on the Yemeni forces.
Among the escapees were their leader Nasser Al-Wahishi and military commander Qassem Al-Rimi. (end) az.bs KUNA 242055 Apr 12NNNN
