BAGHDAD, March 27 (KUNA) -- Iraqi prime minister Nouri Al-Maliki called on Arab companies Tuesday to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq and use the available investment opportunities.
"Iraq today is working on improving its economy and rebuilding its infrastructure in all domains and through cooperationwith all brothers," Al-Maliki said in a speech before the meeting of the Arab League's Economic and Social Council, which kicked off earlier today.
The Council meeting is to prepare for the March 29 Arab Summit, hosted by Iraq for the first time in over two decades.
Al-Maliki hoped the summit would witness cooperation "between our governments and people in all spheres including youth, sport, culture and women." He called on importance of developing the Arab economy via collaboration of all Arab countries within the Arab League. "The Arab situation needs solidarity to improve its economy."
