BAGHDAD, March 25 (KUNA) -- Iraqi President Jalal Talabani set April 5th as a date for the National Conference for all political parties in order to reconcile.
A presidential statement distributed here Sunday said Talabani stressed that the conference would resemble hopes of Iraqi politicians to reach a political solutions to the crises lived by the country.
Talabani held consultation meetings with Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, Parliament Speaker Osama Al-Nujaifi as well as leaders and political figures about the National Conference today.
After setting April 5th for the conference, Talabani called the National Preparatory Committee to expedite their responsibilies in creation of the program before the date mentioned, the statement said.
Talabani hoped for the joint efforts to reach comprehensive and adequate solutions to meet the needs and aspirations of the Iraqi people in promotion of national harmony and solidarity.
The country is going through a political crisis because of the sharp disagreement between the governmental poles, State of Law led by Nouri Al-Maliki and the Iraqi National List led by Ayad Allawi. Allawi's party accuses the government of alienating them in the management of the country.
