KUWAIT, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- Third constituency voters in the 2012 National
Assembly elections expressed hopes that the process of vote counting in the
next elections would be electronic as is the case in many developed countries.
Dr. Talal Al-Shimmari, voter, said that the process of counting votes
electronically in ballot centers and on the specialized elections website
would increase the number of voters.
He added, that this process would facilitate the voting for those of
special needs, senior citizens and citizens abroad.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Otaibi, college student, said that voting through
the internet would contribute in lessening costs in providing and equipping
ballot stations, in addition to the number of workers in the counting process,
and most importantly reduces the human error factor.
Al-Otaibi assured that the state of Kuwait has all the qualifications and
human elements to launch this process.
For his part, Abdulwahab Al-Hashem, mechanical engineer, said that the
decision to use electronic voting should be made "quickly and comprehensively,
" noting that there are many previous successful experiences in developed
nations. (end)
