ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- The militants, who took two security guards as
hostages, in Pakistans northern Peshawar city on Saturday morning have
surrendered and released the hostages.
About three to four militants were being shifted from one compound to
another when they overpowered the security guards and took them as hostages,
said City Police Chief Officer (CCPO) Liaqat Ali while talking to newsmen in
Peshawar.
The CCPO said that the militants snatched guards weapons and opened fire.
However, he said, only guard sustained minor injuries and that he is in stable
condition now.
He said further that the militants tried their levels best to escape but
the security cordon was very tight. He said militants could not succeed in
their attempt and finally their surrendered to the forces.
The military spokesman, Ather Abbas, also confirmed the completion of the
commando operation and said that the hostages have been released. (pick up
