BEIRUT, May 26 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese army announced on Wednesday that it launched surface-to-air missiles at Israeli fighter jets that had violated the Lebanese airspace.
A statement issued by the army directorate said that the two Israeli jets penetrated Lebanese airspace over the town of Kfar Kila in the south, heading to Shaka town.
The Lebanese anti-aircraft guns prevented the two Israeli jets from proceeding, it said, adding that they were flying at a medium altitude over Sheba'a village.
Israeli jets fly over Lebanese airspace frequently, in violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and UN Security Council Resolution 1701. (end) oh.hs KUNA 261653 May 10NNNN
